Reporting a Phishing (Spam) Email

What’s Phishing?

Phishing is the fraudulent attempt to obtain sensitive information or data, such as usernames, passwords and credit card details, by disguising oneself as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.[1][2]

Instructions- Option 1

  1. In Outlook Online, click the (…) symbol in the top right corner of the email.
  2. Click “Security options” in the drop down menu.
  3. Click “Mark as phishing”.
  4. Done!

Instructions- Option 2

  1. In the Outlook Application or Online/Web Version, find the email you believe to be “Phishing.”
  2. (DO NOT OPEN/RE-OPEN THE EMAIL OR ANY LINKS CONTAINED IN THE EMAIL.) Hover over the email and Right-Click the email within the inbox section.
  3. Next, look for the option that states “Report.” It will be a red hazard symbol with an exclamation point in the middle. Select it.
  4. After selecting “Report,” select “Report Phishing.”
  5. In the “Report Fishing” Pop-up window, select Report
  6. Done
