Sharing Files and Folders in OneDrive

The files on your OneDrive are private until you share them. Keep in mind that when you share folders with Edit permissions, people you share with can add the shared files to their own OneDrive. This lets them keep the folder alongside their own folders and items, easily move items between folders, and more easily work on it offline. Any updates they make sync with the shared folder, so everyone with access to the folder is up-to-date.

Sharing a File or Folder

  1. To share a file or folder in OneDrive, select the item and click the share button.
  2. Alternatively, you can select the item, click the three vertical dots, and select share from the dropdown box.

  3. You can set an expiration date for the file or folder here.

  5. You can also block download to prevent others from downloading the shared file or folder.
