Adding Additional Time to Blackboard Tests (ADA Accommodations)

Instructions

  1. Login to Blackboard and click on the course in which you need to make adjustments.
  2. On the content page where you deployed your test, click the down arrow next to the text title. Select Edit the Test Options in the drop-down menu.
  3. On the Test Options page, scroll down to the Test Availability Exceptions section. Click Add User or Group.
  1. In the Add User or Group window, click a checkbox to select an individual user for whom you want to set up an accommodation for additional time.
  1. Click Submit.
  2. The Test Options page displays the Test Availability section showing the user or group you selected.
    • If desired, select the number of attempts you are allowing this student.
    • To increase the time limit that has been set for this test to meet this user’s accommodation needs, check the box and enter the new time.
  1. Click Auto Submit to force the test to submit automatically when the time has run out.
  2. Next, set the availability dates and times, which should be specific to what you have agreed upon with this/these student(s).
  3. Click Save.
  1. Decide whether to check the box to allow Blackboard to force the student to complete the assessment in one sitting (they cannot close their browser and return to it later to complete it).
  • If circumstances change and you need to delete the exception you have created for an individual student, rather than edit it, click the X on the right side.
  • If you have multiple exceptions and want to remove all of them, click Remove All Exceptions above the exceptions area. Both deletions will display a confirmation window. Click OK to confirm the deletion(s).
  1. Click Submit to save your changes.
