Enrollment Verification Assignment (EVA)

What is an Enrollment Verification Assignment (EVA)?

In accordance to the Code of Federal Regulations §668.22 Treatment of title IV funds when a student withdraws and the State Board of Community Colleges Code 1G SBCCC 200.93 Reporting of Student Hours In Membership for Curriculum Classes, students enrolled in online courses – i.e. non-seated and non-hybrid – are required to verify their enrollment by completing an assignment on or before the census date for a course (10% point). CVCC refers to this specific assignment as the Enrollment Verification Assignment, or EVA for short.

  • Students MUST complete the assignment on or before the census date.
  • Students are not allowed to enter the course – i.e. be given a “P” in Self Service Attendance (the new “E”) – after the census date has occurred. This is a STATE policy. Students should not be allowed to take the EVA after the census date has passed.
  • Please make sure you set the end date for the EVA on the census date at 11:59 PM in Blackboard to prevent students from attempting to enter after the census date. Instructors will need to change and set the due date for the EVA based on the census date – this will not be automatically set and will need to be done by all instructors in all of their courses. The EVA should NOT be available to students before the first day of class. The assignment should only be available from the first day of class until the census date at midnight.

Please be sure that there is only one copy of the Enrollment Verification Assignment in the course (multiple copies can exist after a course copy). If multiple copies exist, please delete one so that there is only one Enrollment Verification Assignment and one-grade center column for this assignment. There should be one copy of the EVA only.

Locating the Census Date (10% Point)

You can locate your course’s Census Date by doing the following.

  1. Login to the CVCC Portal at my.cvcc.edu.
  2. In the Self-Service Menu, click on Faculty to expand the menu, then click on Faculty Information.
  3. Click on Class Roster from the drop-down menu.
  4. In the Class Roster Select Section tab, click on the Section Name and Title for which you wish to locate the census date.
  5. The Census Date will be located in the third column of the Class Roster tab.
For further information about the EVA and how to add Adaptive Release, please refer to the following directions: Adaptive Release for the EVA in Blackboard Courses

Getting an EVA

The EVA will be automatically added to the Coursework section of all internet-assisted courses. Please be sure to update the due date to 11:59 PM on the course’s census date and remove any extra copies so that only one EVA remains.
