How to Add Instructors to Courses

Faculty Section Assignment (FASC)

  1. Enter the lead instructor in the first slot. Use the dates of instruction listed on the ticket.
  2. Add additional instructors in the following slots with their corresponding dates of instruction.
  3. Each class component (CLASS, LAB, or CLINIC) must have its own instructor assigned, even if the same instructor teaches multiple components.
    • You can determine whether a class has multiple components by reviewing the Offering Info section at the bottom of the Faculty Section Assignment (FASC) screen.
    • Example: The same instructor may be assigned to teach both the CLASS and LAB components.
  4. To delete an instructor, click the number box next to the instructor and select Delete.
  5. Be sure to save and update twice:
    • Once when exiting the FASC screen
    • Once when exiting the Sections (SECT) screen

Curriculum (Percent Position)

  • When entering more than one instructor for the same class component (CLASS, LAB, or CLINIC), the Percent Position (Pcnt Position) for that component must total 100%.
  • Divide the percentage as evenly as possible among instructors.

    Example:

    • NUR-111-852 (130738)
      • CLASS – 2 instructors each assigned 50%
      • CLINIC – 10 instructors each assigned 10%
      • LAB – 3 instructors assigned 34%, 33%, and 33%

    Common Issues and Solutions

    • Instructor not on HPER file
      • Colleague will not allow you to add an instructor who is not listed on the HPER file.
      • If you receive this error, contact IDMS for assistance.
    • Section record locked
      • Only one user can access the FASC screen at a time.
      • The record will unlock once the other user saves and exits the SECT screen.
      • If the record is locked, you can:
        • Wait a few minutes for the other user to finish, or
        • Contact the user directly in case they may have forgotten to save and exit the course record.
