How to Add Instructors to Courses
Faculty Section Assignment (FASC)
Enter course section in search box. Example: 2026FA ACA-111-800
To add an instructor enter the faculty member’s Colleague ID into the Faculty LookUp search box or click on the number box to the left of the screen:

Enter the lead instructor in the first slot and additional instructors in subsequent slots. You will likely encounter this message when adding an instructor. This is normal. Click OK.

Assign the appropriate dates of instruction:
- If there is an online INTE RNET component to the course then assign those dates of instruction instead of the seated portion’s dates.
- INTE RNET dates of instruction = entire class dates (8 weeks/16 weeks).
Add additional instructors in subsequent slots with their corresponding dates of instruction. Each class component (CLASS, LAB, CLINIC, or WORK) must have its own instructor assigned. Note that the same instructor can be assigned to teach different components.
- You can determine whether a class has multiple components by reviewing the Section Meeting portion towards the bottom of the FASC screen.
- In the example below the same instructor is assigned to teach both the CLASS and LAB components of the course:

Maternity Leave:
- Adjust the end date of the faculty member that will no longer be teaching the course. The end date will be the last day of teaching this class. Do not delete this record.
- Add the new instructor in the next available slot with the correct start date. The start date is the first day the new instructor will start teaching this class.
To delete an instructor, click the number box beside of the instructor’s name and select Delete.
After all changes have been completed be sure to save and update before exiting the FASC screen.
Curriculum (Percent Position)
When entering more than one instructor for the same class component (CLASS, LAB, CLINIC or WORK), the Percent Position (Pcnt Position) for that component must total 100%.
Divide the percentage as evenly as possible among instructors.
Examples:
- 2 instructors teaching a lab component:
- 50% / 50%
- 3 instructors teaching a lab component:
- 34% / 33% / 33%
- 34 + 33 + 33 = 100%
- 10 instructors teaching a clinic component:
- each instructor is assigned 10%
