Enrollment Verification Assignment (EVA)
What is an Enrollment Verification Assignment (EVA)?
In accordance to the Code of Federal Regulations §668.22 Treatment of title IV funds when a student withdraws and the State Board of Community Colleges Code 1G SBCCC 200.93 Reporting of Student Hours In Membership for Curriculum Classes, students enrolled in online courses – i.e. non-seated and non-hybrid – are required to verify their enrollment by completing an assignment on or before the census date for a course (10% point). CVCC refers to this specific assignment as the Enrollment Verification Assignment, or EVA for short.
To increase the efficiency and consistency across all internet-assisted courses, CVCC has created the Enrollment Verification Assignment (EVA). Replacing both the Mandatory Course Entry Quiz (MCEQ) and the First Day of Class Quiz (FDoCQ), the EVA contains five questions that will be used across all internet-assisted courses for attendance.
Students MUST complete the assignment on or before the census date. Students are not allowed to enter the course – i.e. be given a “P” in Self Service Attendance (the new “E”) – after the census date has occurred. This is a STATE policy. Students should not be allowed to take the EVA after the census date has passed.
Please make sure you set the end date for the EVA on the census date at 11:59 PM in Blackboard to prevent students from attempting to enter after the census date. Instructors will need to change and set the due date for the EVA based on the census date – this will not be automatically set and will need to be done by all instructors in all of their courses. The EVA should NOT be available to students before the first day of class. The assignment should only be available from the first day of class until the census date at midnight.
Please be sure that there is only one copy of the Enrollment Verification Assignment in the course (multiple copies can exist after a course copy). If multiple copies exist, please delete one so that there is only one Enrollment Verification Assignment and one-grade center column for this assignment. Please delete any MCEQ or FDoCQ’s that may still exist in your course. There should be one copy of the EVA only.
